Plants and Butterflies

Question
Hi,
I been growing two types of flowers and three types of fruit/veggies in my front yard strawberries, tomatos, watermellon.  Wildflowers, anuals and perennials; and Morning glorys,Grandpa otts both from the brand Ferry-morse.    Theve been growing for a 2 month  now and I wanted to attract butterflies since thier growing so fast (still to yonge to make flowers).    So I put a homemade feeder hanging from my patio in the back yard where its just dirt, pool and rocks.  Will they still come if my plants + tree is in the front yard, and if they wont could i make fake plant out of simple household items to attract them instead.

Thank you

Answer
Michelle, a fake plant will not attract them. The best annuals for butterflies are wildflowers, cosmos and zinnia, especially red ones. These plant bloom profusely and attract by sight and smell. Where you plant them really does not matter. I have red zinnias in my front yard and butterflies are always around the plants.

Good luck, and please write again if I can ever provide assistance.

Regards,

Mike
