tiny tomato propagation

Question
I found a flourishing tomato plant in a long vacant lot.  The tomatoes are tiny - smaller than marbles.  They obviously don't need much TLC as we are in the midst of a drought and there are literally hundreds of tomatoes on the plant. I would like to grow these in my garden. Can you tell me how to do this?  Thank you!!!

Answer
Hi Jennifer,
Thanx for your question.  I would be very, very careful with the plant you describe.  Tomatoes are a member of the solanum family and many of the family's members are highly toxic.  What may appear to be a tomato may be something else.  This could also the be tiny currant tomato which is a different species of the tomato but definitely not toxic.  Please take the plant to your local County Extension Agent and have them positively identify the plant for you.  If you need contact information give me your state and county.  If you are in Canada, the local master gardeners or Agriculture Canada can help and I can provide contact information there too.

I hope this helps.
Tom
