I want to move a snow ball bush

Question
I have 2 full grown snow ball bushes.  Do I cut them back to transplant them, or how do I do this?
thanks

Answer
Hi Julie,
Thanx for your question.  Wait until September and then cut the shrubs back to a size that will make them easier for you to handle.  Dig down as deep as possible to extract the root ball.  You will probably want to divide the rootball into smaller sections to make it easier to handle too.  Make sure you have significant root mass.  Transplant immediately to a hole that is a bit bigger and deeper than where you originally recovered the rootball.  Amend with well-composted cow manure.  Water profusely.  Mulch with leaves or cypress mulch.  I hope this helps.
Tom
