Non-blooming pear tree

Question
Sir I have two pear trees of unknown variety. They have not bloomed for two years. This spring one bloomed but not the other. What if anything can I do?

Answer
Fruit trees must be pruned every fall to stimulate blossoms the next spring. I cut back my branches by 1/3. This sounds drastic, but it is actually very good for the tree. I also fertilize my trees every spring with a product high in phosphorus. Phosphorus is the nutrient required for all fruit-bearing vegetables and trees. It helps stimulate additional blossoms and larger fruit.

I hope this answered your question. Please write again if I can ever provide assistance.

Regards,

Mike
