rubber trees

Question
How do I prune an overgrown rubber tree plant - I just inherited it - it has become leggy and is 8 feet tall.  Can I trim it so that is gets bushy?

Answer
Hello Gerrypropmgr,
In order to get the rubber tree to be bushier, cut half of it off.  Feed the tree with 12-12-12 general plant fertilizer available at most garden centers.  Feed according to directions and don't overwater your rubber tree.  It also likes a little diffused sunlight.  Many of these plants are grown as house plants with little or no exposure to sun which causes them to get "leggy" as you put it.  A little sun every day, will help the plant fill itself out.  I hope this helps.
Tom
