I live in the UK and I have just bought a fig plant
(Brown Turkey- "Ficus Carica)I want to grow it over a pergola near a patio. My questions are:
How vigorous is the root growth?
Would it be best grown in soil or a large tub?

Peter, Figs have a shallow root system, but it will reach outward to about 3 times its canopy; The advantage to growing a Ficus in a large tub, is being able to move it if necessary (weather).
