Fig Tree, brown veins, wilting leaves

Question
Hello,
The leaves on my fig tree have suddenly begun to wilt and some of them have
brown veins. It is potted, watered frequently (soil remains damp) and was off
to a grand start a few weeks ago. Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

Answer
Hi Ralph..the first thing comes to mind that you may have a saucer on the bottom of your plant.  If so any water left standing in the pan after fifteen minutes and not dumped out, will start rotting your plant.  Everyday watering in a pot is fine as long as it is drying out between watering.  Here in FL I water mine in a pot everyday...  Usually not enough water would be yellow leaves and bugs don't generally bother figs.  They will get a rust in the fall but fall off over the winter as they are deciduous.
