Pinnapple Plant

Question
QUESTION: I have this pineapple plant and it has a little fruit probably about the size of a tennis ball! It has turned yellow and I was wondering if it will get bigger or if I need to take it off the plant? I was also wondering how to go about doing this and when is the best time to harvest the fruit, what do I do with the plant after I harvest the fruit is it useless now or will it continue to grow! and my plant got sunburned because of some wrong info off the Internet should I cut the leaves off completely or just let it fix its self! I cant trust any web site but this one thanks for everything!

ANSWER: Hi Kristina, thanks for the vote of confidence! ok, if its already turning yellow then it will not get any bigger, its a substandard fruit due to a mishap along the way (during its growing period); unfortunately it will not form another head, only one per plant. If you want to try again, go buy a pineapple at the grocery store, and cut the top of it and trim away all the fruit from the end of it until you have about a one inch stem; let this dry for about 2-3 days, and then plant the top in a pot with a good potting soil, water it initially then let it dry out between waterings (not too dry however), and keep it in a dappled shady area until roots develop,, then move it into the sun. Feel free to follow up.:) Nick

QUESTION: Will my plant die now or will it stay alive I paid good money for this plant and I haven't had it that long! What is a good web site on how to start a new plant! Can I use the fruit on this plant to make a new one! Thank you!

Answer
if it has already turned yellow, then it has matured and the plant will not develop another fruit; I don't know what else to say except it should have grown to football size before turning ripe; and the only reason I can see is it had a mishap during it formative growth.
