care & pruning of bannana tree

Question
I have two bunches of bannanas on the top of the stalk then there is a corn cob shope hagging below that that daily a leaf opens an exposes new plooms bannanas appreared on the first set of flowers that fell off.Someone told me to cut that part of the plant off and the bannanas that are on there will flourish. The pictures I have looked at mine looks like a [musca]Can you please help. Thanks,Lenita Reeves

Answer
Hi Lenita, ok, you have two "Hands" of bananas at the top of the stalk, and at the bottom your red cob needs to be cut off, so that it takes weight away from the plant (so as to prevent it breaking). the hands of bananas will take up to 2 months to plump out, (they will swell) when they have swelled to a point that they stop swelling, then you need to cut the bunch off and hang it upside down in a cooler area, like the garage or laundry room, to let them ripen up.
