Question
Is pine straw ok for mulching a banana tree.  I live in northeastern North Carolina, have just gotten one that was in winter storage and cut about 3 inches above dirt line.  Have planted in well drained, and full sun area.

Hi Paul, anything organic on Bananas is perfect, they like anything that will break down and enrich the soil; Pine straw or any kind of mulch that will hold in moisture is critical to the healthy development of the corm (underground rootsystem). Rule of thumb is lots of water and lots of fertilizer. Nick
