Fallen Queen Palm Tree

Question
We have a 15'-20' Queen Palm that fell over at the root base 2 days ago.  The trunk has split at the base at one side, but the roots have not come out of the ground.  We raised the tree attempting to prop it back up and allow it to restablize.  However, after doing that, there is a separation between the trunk and the root at the ground line that goes into the trunk about 1/2 way.  Is there anything we can do to help the tree heal so that it will survive and be strong again?  Or, is there nothing we can do?  It looks almost like it has rotted some at the ground line.  Other than that, the fronds were looking healthy and there is new growth prior to it falling.  It is planted in a long, raised bed brick planter 3' deep, 2-3' high.  We have received record rainfall here and probably the ground was extremely saturated.  Thank you for your ideas.

Answer
It sounds bad Barbara, but without seeing it, I won't dare diagnose either yea or nay, my advice is to contact your local Cooperative Extension Agent, and see if he or she can arrange for a Master Gardner to take a look; if the trunk is split at ground level, there is a slight chance of bracing it, but again, it depends on the severity.
