Spots on my Brugmansia

Question
Sick Brug
Sick Brug
QUESTION: Hi Nick,

My brug is gowing nicely (no flowers yet)but the bottom leaves
develop this light brown stuff all over.  I have no idea what it is.
I live in Tampa and as it gets warmer, all my plants have
something going on.
By the way, I took your advice about horticultural oil on the plumeria, and it looks like its going to be fine - Thanks
Hope you can help with the brug.

Thanks again for all your help
Betty

ANSWER: Its hard to tell definitively whether its scale or a fungal infection, so, I would hit it with the oil, and then in a week, hit it with a Copper fungicide; this should take care of it either way, and no harm will result from using each product a week apart. Nick

QUESTION: Do I wash the oil off tomorrow?

Answer
Yes, always apply late afternoon and allow to work overnight, then wash off residual oil the next morning along with dead insects; this prevents the product to be on the plant during the heat of the day, thereby preventing any possible damage due to magnification of the suns heat on the oil.
