When is the best time to trim pine and spruce trees in Northern Alberta, Canada. They have never been trimmed and the branches are on to  the driveway. They are approximately 15 feet hi. Thank you for your information.

These can be pruned at any time. Cut the limbs back to within 1/4 inch of the trunk but not flush with the trunk. The tree will heal itself and do not paint with a sealer. On large limbs cut the under side about a foot from the trunk and then cut the stub off after the limb is cut. This will help with the weight of the limb and keep it from splitting down the trunk..
