Spruce, Colorado Blue

Question
Hello, I bought a Colorado Blue Spruce from Home Depot about 5 month ago and planted it in my back yard. The tree started browning and going bare almost instantly. The tree looks half dead now except in the very middle. I was told the tree was in shock due to the heat wave and drought we have here in Charlotte, NC. Is there anything I can do to save this tree? I already dug around it and added some organic material and pine mulch but the tree looks like it's just not going to make it. The top was so dead it just snapped off? So depressing..

Thank you,
Sweet NC T

Answer
If the top snapped off the tree is dead. Sounds like since it turned brown as soon  you planted it it was not in good health when it was bought. I would take it back to the Home Depot and get my money back. Tell them it looked sick when you got it and died soon after. Next time go to a tree nursery and purchase your trees they will be of much better quality. Sorry!
