Prunne a B&B Live Oak

Question
Hi, I got 26 B&B Live Oak from Dallas TX area to El Paso TX back in October 2008, The drop 100% of the leaves and now they are just coming back. I did prune 2 days ago all unwanted branches, but I'm worry because they haven't been planted in the ground yet. Do u think it may cause a problem ?

Answer
I assume B&B is Bagged and Burlap a method of shipping trees so the roots will not dry out. If your question is should the trees be planted in the ground or can they be held without planting-- I would plant them. The rootball is bagged in the burlap to keep the roots from drying not as a  growing substance. Once the leaves start the roots will grow and the warmer weather will more than likely kill the roots and the trees. Plant them ASAP in the ground either where they are to grow or in a bed if you plan to hold them from planting later next year.
When you plant them dog the hole twice the size of the rootball and as deep. Fill the hole with good top soil or potting soil and mulch around the tree with not more than 3 inches deep of organic mulch not piled up on the trunk.
