Crooked Willow bugs

Question
I recently cut a lot of dead branches out of a 30 foot crooked willow that is on our front lawn, and since then, the tree looks bad.  A lot of dead leaves, and on close inspection has what looks like mealy bugs... webs and small bugs on some areas.  Is this cyclical or does this tree have some disease?  Did the prunning have any impact?  If it has "bugs" can it be treated?  Thank you for your time!

Answer
Insects that feed on trees can be treated with an insecticide called Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub Insect Control. This is applied to the soil around the tree and the roots will transport it to he twigs and leaves and when the insects feed on the plant juices they are killed. Here is a web link to more information on this product. Check with your local nursery for Bayer Advanced.
