Bore worms in Oak trees

Question
Is Merit something that can be bought and used without be licensed?  We have been told that we have Bore worms in our Oak trees and need to know what to do about them.  Our County Extension Office was not much help.

Thank You,
Jane

Answer
No you do not have to have a license to but Merit. You can get it to spray on the trunk where the borer damage is located or you can get a product called Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub Insect Control --this is applied to the soil around the tree and the roots will take it to the trunk and kill the insects present and prevent further attack. here is a web link to this product. Check with your local nursery for these insecticides.
