Raywood Ash surface roots

Question
My 35 ft Raywood Ash is lovely but it has many surface roots growing from its base. Many of them spread out several feet.  Can I remove them without harming the tree?
      Thank you.

Answer
IF you remove the roots this will damage and may kill the tree depending on the amount and size of the roots removed. IF the roots are on the surface you can add sand over the roots as long as you do not  add more than 2-3 inches deep over the roots, AND not add any near the trunk say a foot from the trunk.
