patmore ash roots

Question
I have a 50 foot ash that is leaning at a 5 degree angle to the east and I'm concerned it will fall on the garage in a wind storm especially since we have gotten so much rain and the soil is very saturated.  There are also a lot more larger limbs on the east side.  Is the root system of the ash significant enough to usually keep this tree from uprooting?

Thanks!

Answer
Mist trees have some lean to them. A 5 degree lean is not a problem. IF a tree was leaning 30-or more degrees and the ground was starting to be pulled up by the roots than this could be a problem but in your case I see no problem. A trees root system extends about 1 1/2 time the width of the branches and is more than capable of anchoring the tree even a more severe lean, I would not worry about this tree.
