Damage to Chinese Pistache Sapling

Question
Jim,

Thank you for taking my question.  I have a young Chinese Pistache tree.  This morning I made two mistakes and accidentally damaged the little tree.  My first mistake was that there was a sprig of leaves that had a little bit of sun scorch on them.  I decided to remove this sprig.  I now know that I should have just left it, because sun scorched leaves don't pose a threat to a tree, since it is not a disease.  Anyway, my second mistake was that I pulled the sprig off instead of cutting it off with sterilized sheers.  When I pulled it off a little bit of bark and inner bark came off with it to the point that I can actually see the heart wood of the tree.  I thought about taping it over but decided not to so as not to make a third mistake.
Anyway, do you think the little tree will be alright if I just leave it alone and allow it to heal itself or is there something I should do to insure that disease does not get into the open wound?  Please let me know.

Thanks,
Tim

Answer
I will be fine. Young trees will heal over wound fast and in a year or so you will not be able to tell where it was. IF there is any loose bark on the wound cut this off. Do not out any wound dressing (paint etc. ) on the wound this will slow down the healing process. Do not worry your tree will be OK.
