No Leaves on Aspen Trees

Question
I live in the San Juan mountains of southern Colorado at 8000 ft elevation.  I have a grouping of 4 aspen trees next to my house.  One of the trees has fully leafed out, 2 of the trees have leafed out but have some portions of branches that are bare and one tree has absolutely no leaves even though there are buds.  The bare branches are not dead - they bend without breaking - and I don't see any sign of insects or disease.  Do you have any idea on what the problem may be with the bare branches?

Answer
We have had the same thing with our trees here in Alabama. The spring weather was very unusual and some trees of the same species leafed out much later than others. Since the trees sounds like they are still alive I would thin that is what is going on there also. I would just wait and see --would expect the trees to leaf out in the next month. I think they are OK just need time.
