Hi, last summer (late summer) I planted some serviceberry shrubs.  So far this year they are not budding.  Are they late budders or perhaps they're dead?  I live in MD.  Thanks!

Amelanchier usually open a little later than this, here in the New York, so I cannot tell precisely when they should open up in Maryland.
I would recommend fertilizing them and waiting a few weeks to see what will happen.
