Oleanders browning from a freeze

Question
I'm in Louisiana and planted my Oleanders in June 2009. They are dark pink, semi dwarf (growing 6 feet at maturity).  They have ground to a healthy 3 feet, I feel because of the well drainage and we installed a water system so they have flourish.  We have had unusual colder weather including 2 hard freezes in the low 20's. My beautiful plants are brown and don't know 1.  How much should I prune. 2.  When should I cut them back?  3.  What will I expect in them growing back out? (meaning, time frame to make a statement. )
I've planted over 100 along my property line and driveway.

Answer
Hello Ruth

Unfortunately Oleanders are frost tender and yours have certainly suffered in this respect.

The only thing you can really do is wait and see!  Not very encouraging I know, but keep a close eye on them as the weather warms up and when (if) you see buds forming cut the stems back to that point.  If your plants do survive the time frame for them to regain their former glory is very hard to predict, but they should grow at the same rate they did before the frost got to them.
