Recovering houseplants after a freeze

Question
I am so bummed out! I travel often for my work and left my houseplants on
the back porch (where they thrived over this last summer/fall). Old Man
Winter blew an Arctic front into town and my poor plants were decimated! I
have a very old spider plant (25 years) that was absolutely HUGE, and now is
pretty dead looking. I cut off all the blackened and damaged leaves to the
heart of each section where the leaves come out. Some parts of this plant are
still alive, I left anything that was in good condition. My pothos, however,
didn't fare well at all. I removed all the mushy part of the plants and pruned
the vines to the top of the roots near the soil line. My question is: what more
can I do to bring them back??? They have been in life for years!

Answer
Michelle,

All you can do is keep them warm and put them in the sunniest location possible indoors. There is a pretty good chance that they will come back slowly. You might say a prayer for it. You might want to make friend with your neighbors so in the future if you go out of town and a freeze happens your neighbors will take your plants in for you and you can retreive them safely when you get home. Right now be patient and give them lots of sun and some mild doses of fertilizer once a month. Good luck.
