Dividing Emerald Gaiety Euonymus plants

Question
We have several very large plants...Haven't been touched/trimmed/divided/transplanted in years.  Would like to divide larger plants to share and transplant.  What is the correct/safe way to do this without harming the plant.

Answer
Hello Joanne

Euonymus 'Emerald Gaiety' is a shrub and therefore cannot be divided.  However, plants can be cut back in mid spring to a size more suitable for your needs and this should go some way to making the garden look neater and more manageable.

If you do decide that you want to dig up some of the plants, please, do feel free to come back to me for advice on how to go about it.  I would need to know the size of the plant(s) and, if possible, their age. The bigger the plant, the harder it would be to move, so perhaps moving some of the smaller specimens would be the wisest thing to do.
