Answer
Before I give you some information on music helping plants to grow, keep in mind that "music" actually means "vibrations" in the plant world. They don't call rock plants that because they like rock music!
One generations "music" is the previous generations "noise"!
Therefore the answer should be a matter of volume. Louder music/noise the should make plants shorter and stronger.
It has been proven that plant stomatas are sensitive to vibrations.I think too, that it's the vibrations that come from the music, not the sound that affects them.
Who knows whether it was also the electro-magnetic field from the speakers? There are so many variables it is impossible to control for all of them and the burden of proof rests on the person who proposes a correlation between music and plant growth. Most experiments were done in a closed and controlled envirionment such as a greenhouse so music probably wouldn't have any effect on roses grown outside unless you blasted heavy metal on lots of boom speakers!
Roses grow faster and better if the hole they were planted in contains good soil, bone meal and well rotted cow manure. It is the attention to the roots that is important not what goes on on top. Hope this helps. Lynnette
