not sure whats happening with some of my roses

Question
About 1 month ago, on 1 of my Rose bushes, after it finished blooming on 1 stem, instead of dieing like the others did (after blooming)the "bulb under the flower", stayed green & got bigger! It hasn't died yet its gotten to the size of a quarter(maybe a hair bigger, meatball sized perhaps?)its still green but starting to yellow on 1 side & down stem to first set of leaves. I've been told that its a seed pod or something like that, if it is, can I clip it off & plant it, or do I just let it run it's course?
HELP!! Some of my other bushes are doing it as well (I have 15)

Answer
Hi Cynthia..........what you are describing is the seedpod.
To prevent this you should "deadhead" a rose (down to the first set of leaves) on each stem after the flower fades.
You can plant the seeds, but the return is usually poor and kind of slow...........more rose tips?
