Florabunda roses in Michigan

Question
This year has been wonderful for the deep red florabunda roses in MI.  When the blooms begin to fade do we clip them or just let them fall off.  I have never had them in such profusion and don't know how to handle them.

Answer
It has been a good year for roses in the PNW too and it is such a pleasure to have lots of blooms. They used to tell you to cut the bloom off back to a certain number of leaves but that has been debunked. Now they say that the rose bush needs all the leaves it can get and just snapping the dead flower off with your fingers is the prefered way to dead head. As I have many roses I can tell you that it works fine and very quickly you will get another flower right behind the dead ones.
However if you want to cut some blooms to put in a vase, then cut them off at the length you want.
