late season frost on new growth

Question
I live in Huntington, WV zone 6.  I have several knockout roses that were planted 3 years ago.  They have been thriving.  I pruned them back a few weeks ago and fertilized last week.  New growth is two to three onches long.  We are having a late season frost, temps around 25- 30* for the next five or six nights.  Will this harm them? Do these need to be covered?  and how so?  Thank you

Answer
If you cover a rose you make a mini greenhouse for them and sometimes this will encourage growth which will in turn gets nipped by the cold. Roses are capable of putting out three sets of leaves from their bud eyes without compromising their vigour. So if the worst is that your roses do get their leaves killed by the frost, then they will start again and do okay. Hope this helps.
