Should I cut the old calyx

Question
Should I cut the old calyx off after the rose is dead and lost all the leaves?  I tend to want to clean the branch thinking that a new bud will come out faster if the old one is gone.  Am I doing it right??

Answer
Thanks to large nurseries that grow thousands of roses, we have learned a lot on how to care for roses plus they have also debunked a lot of rose myths. One of them is where to cut the dead flower off. It has been proven that just snapping the dead flower off is the way to go instead of cutting it way down the stem like they used to tell gardeners.. The reason for this is that the strongest new growth comes from right behind the dead flower. So you can simply walk around the garden and snap them off with your fingers. Hope this helps.
