Question
Should perennials be cut to the ground in the fall? My garden is in zone 5.
Should the garden be covered with wood chips to prevent heaving over the winter?

Answer
Hi Arthur,
Thanx for your question.  I would wait until the first frost to trim back my perennials back to the ground, but, I need specifics.  There are certain plants that should not be cut down to the ground.  Kindly submit a followup and let me know what you have so I can give you specifics.
thx,
Tom
