my rose bushes changed

Question
All of my hybrid rose bushes seem to have reverted to a red climbing rose bush. There was an old climbing rose bush already growing that my grandmother planted years ago. Now all of my rose bushes have become the same. What may have caused this & what can I do to prevent it from happening to any new bushes I may plant?

Answer
Your roses have died and the under stock called Dr. Huey, a red climber, has taken over. What usually happens is that the top rose dies in the winter or just because it isn't very vigorous. Then the under stock takes over because it is very vigorous.m,It mainly happens to roses that are not hardy enough to go through a cold winter.
