pruning rose bushes

Question
the snow is here is it too late to prune my rose bushes.I usually cut them down in the fall to about a foot...

Answer
Snow is like an insulator for roses and can actually save them over the winter. Because they are now dormant ,you can go ahead and prune them down. They usually tell you not to prune a rose in the late fall because it will activate new growth. However your roses won't be activated because the cold weather has put them into a dormant state
