forever roses

Question
I am in zone 6 and last year I planted a row of forever roses.  They were beautiful last summer but this summer we had one bunch of roses and very little blooming since.  At the end of March I dug around the perimeter and fertilized like the package suggested but we have had very little blooms.  Our soil is rocky but we water and try to take care of the roses even though these roses are supposed to be for people like me that aren't really of the green thumb variety. We did not cut the roses back last fall as we are looking for a rose hedge affect.  Please give me some guidance.  Thanks

Answer
This is interesting as I have never heard of any roses called Forever roses except in a florist shop. If the roses did well one year and are not doing well this year then one of the reasons could be the weather. If you had a lot of rain that is more than usual or you had a hot spell, then roses will go under stress and go almost dormant and not do anything until the weather gets back to normal. It appears that you are doing everything to make the roses grow well so it is not your fault but probably the weather. Also roses will have two main flushes and then they will rest in between for about a month but if the weather is not good, that will delay the next flush.
