knockout roses turning black

Question
i have 3 knockout roses i planted around the 1st of march.
The week after i planted we had heavy rains for about 2 weeks off and on.  the plants had quite a few yellow leaves but eventually they seemed to be doing well and bloomed beautifully...but about a week ago we had another rainy spell...then dry...i watered...then today it rained like crazy again....anyway....i just walked out an looked at them and one is extremely yellow...and one side actually has black stems...no leaves....and holes in a few of the leaves and the actual petals of the blooms...WHAT is causing this??  help please!!!

Answer
Rose roots won't do well in very wet soils. When the roots  sit in water for a few days, the feeder roots actually suffocate and die and so there is no way they can take up nutrients and when the water goes away can't take even take up water and so the whole plant dies. The holes are caused by insects eating the blooms that have died.
