Roses/ juniper bushes/trees

Question
Is it okay to plant roses in the same bed as juniper bushes/trees??

Answer
It really depends on how far away the juniper bushes are planted from the roses. Trees and junipers won't do any harm to rose bushes but what they will do, especially the junipers, is take up the moisture from the area. Junipers are also bully boys and when they find that the rose bushes are getting lots of water and food, they will quickly move in with their roots. Junipers are known for draining large amounts of moisture out of the soil. They do very well in dry places because they take up moisture and then store it in their leaves. Trees are nicer and will live next roses even though they too take up water a lot but they don't invade as much as the junipers. I would plant the roses about 3 feet away from the evergreens and if the roses don't do well, I would blame the junipers not the trees.
