silver mound artemisia

Question
In mid June I planted two silver mound artemisia and they grew very well.  After a large rainfall the one went to mush and 99 percent of the foliage was dead.  The nursery where I purchased it from said this was not unusual and to remove the dead and it would come back, the cause being too much rainfall.  We have now had one of the driest Septembers and my second plant is showing the same problem.  I have found some slugs on this plant, and I was wondering if this was the problem?  Any suggestions on how to avoid this problem . I am really impressed with their foliage when healthy.

Thank you for your time

Answer
Marjorie,
I have had the very same experience with the "Siver Mound" Artemesia. The foliage is very lacy and delicate looking and they can get as large as small shrubs, but they only give a short show.Kind of like your favorite sitcom.HA!That sounds final but that's the experience I have had with them. The good news is there are MANY more Artemesias out there. Try the "Powis Castle","Silver Queen and King"(just a bit of difference foliage color),and several more that I can't name all. Here are some great sites to look for some:
