Bare root perennials

Question
Some of the perennials I want to grow are now on sale as bare root at a very good price. I know how to plant them, but am concerned that they may not survive if I plant them at this late date. I am close to the border of zones 6A and 6B. Will appreciate getting your advice.

Answer
You may still be able to plant these in the ground.  The weather has been changing so much in the past few years that I've even planted in late October and Nov and I'm in 5B.  If you feel the weather is not going to remain tepid, plant into pots and keep in an area that is mild in temperature until the early spring when you can get them in the ground.
I've done this before and it has worked fine.

Good luck!
