Lily Red Carpet

Question
One other question which I hope you can answer as I'm about to dig it up.  Planted it in the summer this year "in bloom" it has now gone brown and looks it didn't quite make it.  Any suggestions?  Thanks again.

Answer
DO NOT DIG IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What type of lily is it Oriental or Asiatic?  Almost all lilies are perennials, and mine is going dormant right now, turning brown, it is however NOT dead, just going dormant for the winter.  You should cut back the stalk 2-3" above the ground and it should come up again next year.  There is not much you can do for it now, because it sounds like it is dormant to me.  Mulch over the top with some hay for the winter, and hope it comes back.  So DO NOT dig it up, if it is in the ground, unless it is a very unusual (one that I have never heard of), not cold hardy variety of lily. When you transplanted it this summer, did it seem to go into shock?  When you transplant things in the heat of summer, most things go into shock if you do not feed them B1 or SuperThrive, to prevent that from happening. So I repeat, DO NOT DIG IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!  It is probably just dormant now, waiting for next Spring to come and then it will do beautifully for you again and for years to come.
