moving or prunig back a clamatis

Question
I am in the process of installing a furnace in my garage, and the exhaust is going to interfer with my wife's clematis. Is it ok to prune it way back and redirect the growth away from the exhaust? It is the middle of a typical Michigan winter.
If this does not look like it will work out, (it does right now, but things are constantly changing with this project) is it possible for me to remove this plant, store it and replant it in another location in the spring?

Thank you,

Dennis

Answer
Hi Dennis,
Thanx for your question.  I am sorry I was not able to get to you sooner.  Prune the plant back in the early spring and you can direct the growth to where you want, or, you can dig the plant up and replant it shortly after the last frost.  I hope this helps.
Tom
