What are the nutrient and soil conditions needed for azaleas? Any other hints for culture would be appreciated.

Hi Leslie,
Thanx for your question.  Azaleas prefer acidic, moist but well-drained soil.  There are some varieties that are not very hardy in the north and other varieties have been bred to withstand cold, northern winters.  Here is a link to the Azalea experts at the Azalea Society of America.  I hope this helps.
