Hello. I am planning on having a unity plant ceremony at my upcoming wedding in October. Basically, it is a spin on the the traditional unity candle. We are going to both add soil to a potted plant. I am trying to find a plant that is both beautiful, easy to take care of, will live year after year, and will not be poisonous to cats. Do you have any suggestions? I am not familiar with different types of plants and help would be much appreciated!

Thanx for your question. I checked these on the ASPCA website for non-toxic plants for cats.  Both of these plants are easy to take care of and make a lovely addition to anyhome.  They will also probably outlive you and your partner.

Any type of indoor house palm
Christmas Cactus - which will reward you with blooms from around Thansgiving into the New Year.
