phaleanopsis care

Question
I recieved my very first phaleanopsis orchid plant on Valentine's Day this year and I am afraid I'm killing it.  The flowers are beginning to wilt and I'm not sure whether to repot it or cut the stem.  Could you help please??

Answer
Definitely repot it in an orchid potting mix.  Make sure you cllean the orchid roots and check for any that are "mushy".  Remove any mushy roots before repotting. Cutting the old flower spike is optional.  It will not damage the plant to remove it.  It will like to grow on an east window sill if you have one.  After repotting, water thoroughly once per week-- preferably in the morning.
