-----Question-----
I bought an orchid a couple of years ago--at Lowe's.  When the blossoms were finished I cut their stems back, kept the soil moist, and waited.  For about 9 months I have had long new stems, with apparently a bud at the end.  One of the stems is 18" tall; others are definitely long.  Will I ever get blossoms?  What can I do?
-----Answer-----
The answer to your first question is "yes".  Here are some suggestions to answer your second question. First, I'm assuming that your orchid is a phalaenopsis or moth orchid.  You didn't mention the health of your plant in terms of new leaf growth.  I'm assuming it is healthy. If you have not repotted your orchid since purchasing it, it definitely should be repotted in fresh orchid potting mix.  In the process of repotting, you need to check the root system and remove all "mushy" roots before repotting.  Lowes carries orchid potting mix.

You apparently have the type of orchid that retains the old orchid spikes which can rebloom.  I recommend that you use a "bloom booster" orchid fertilizer.  This is an orchid food with a high middle number such as 20-30-10 or any where the middle number is highest. This promotes blooming.  Do not keep you plant constantly wet but let it nearly dry out between waterings. If it is in fresh orchid potting mix, watering it once per week is fine.  Do not let it stand in the water. Growing this plant in an east window is among the best of locations because it can get the morning sun.  Sometimes, insufficient light can inhibit flowering.
