AnswerDear Alfredo, Yes it does seem like scale. Also, be sure to dry out completely between watering. I used to let mine get almost rock hard in between and it really seemed to prefer it. Oh, and that old snake plant from over twenty years ago, my ex-husband still has it and it's still going strong. Melissa
