Sophronitis coccinea seedling


Question
i have Sophronitis coccinea  seedling about one and half years . right from flask i wired   them  onto tree slabs  .they are very healthy but growing  very slowly.my question :are miniature orchid also have slowly growing pace.i live in israel in mountain area with cold night that is to Sophronitis  - thank you cohen

Cohen, the answer is yes.  Orchids, in general, when seedlings, grow vey slowly which is why they are such a challenge and survival rates are often low unless growing conditions are ideal. I congratulate you on your success thus far and wish you continued success.  As you are probably aware, Sophronitis coccinea likes cool to cold temperatures. Keep doing what you are doing and, in a few years, you should be rewarded with some beautiful flowers.  In the interim, see if you can locate a flowering size plant to grow along with your seedlings and you can test your growing conditions for flowering as well while you wait for your seedlings to mature to flowering size.
