pest

Question
I suddenly have these little knat looking bugs on all of my plants. How do I get rid of them without hurting the plant. They seem to be getting worse. They fly everwhere. Help.
Thank you , Debby

Answer
Hi Debby
You have soil gnats.  They are little gnats that breed and live in off of the fungus growing in the potting soil.  The best way to get rid of them is to allow the soil to dry out completely.  That way, there is nothing for the gnats to thrive off of.  You can also mix together in a spray bottle; 1 tsp. rubbing alcohol, 1 tsp. dish soap and water, spray the soil and leaves with this.  Make sure you spray all of your plants.  Soil gnats will not kill the plants, they are just a real pest to us.
Good Luck Debby
