Radermachia Sinica

Question
My china doll, all of a sudden is losing all its leaves. I have had it about 2-3 months. The pot is ceramic, size is 8inches in diameter, the plant was kept in the sunroom (which is all glass), however I have since
moved it into the lounge room to see if that would help, it
hasn't. What am I doing wrong? I live in Australia it is now the hottest month of the year.
Regards
Heather.

Answer
Hi Heather,

It is hard to give you a definitive answer because there are many factors that can cause this rather finicky plant to decline rapidly.

Improper watering is the most common reason for China doll decline. Generally, the top 2-3 cms. of soil should dry out in between thorough waterings. If the soil is kept too moist or allowed to get too dry (even just once), there will be substantial leaf drop.

Any change in the environment will also upset this plant. Changes in light and temnperature are particularly problematic for China doll. Generally, it prefers lots of bright indirect light and warm temps in the 18-25 C. range. It is also best to avoid repotting it.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
