sago palm houseplant

Question
I have a sago palm houseplant that I've had for a year.
Along side of the main'trunk' there is a new leaf growing.  Actually it has three fronds(is that what they are called).   Is this normal?  Should I leave it alone or should I remove it?
Please forgive me if that's a dumb question, lol.
Thanks for your time as always.
Dwight

Answer
Dwight,

It is quite common for sagos to produce side shoots. They can be separated from the parent or left in the same pot. Ir depends on your preference. The following site talks about this in depth:

http://www.rhapisgardens.com/sagos/sagopups.htm

This site has has more info about Sagos.

http://www.emilycompost.com/sago_palm1.htm

So take a look at those sites and you can decide whether to let it grow or separate them. Good luck.
