One more question - ponytail palm

Question
Don't you just cringe when you see my name??  One more question, if you please... Regarding your response to go ahead and repot my ponytail palm.  Should I do so now, or wait until spring?  I know that, generally speaking, repotting should not be done during the 'dormant' months.  Yet, there is so little soil left in proportion to the roots of this plant I feel it might be harmful to wait, yet I will wait if you feel I should.  By the way, the roots ARE white and very healthy looking. Thanks so very much for all of your help!

Answer
Hi Patricia,

I am quite happy to see your name again! You have good questions that challenge me and it is quite apparent that you truly care about your plants. So feel free to send me your "name" any time at all. You can also contact me directly, if you prefer.

Most indoor plants are tropical in origin and non-seasonal, growing all year round without a dormant period. Although it is true that indoor plants grow a bit more slowly in winter because the hours of daylight are shorter, they don't go dormant. They just use a bit less water.

So you can repot your houseplants whenever they truly need it. And based of your excellent description of the roots, your ponytail REALLY DOES NEED IT NOW!

Just remember - put it into a pot that is only one size larger.

Next question, please? LOL!

Will
